Tariff structure submitted to the BAG

New step towards a binding tariff for psychological psychotherapy
On behalf of the three Psy associations, the FSP - together with its tariff partners H+ and prio.swiss - submitted important documents on the tariff structure for psychological psychotherapy to the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) on June 4, 2020. This represents a decisive step forward in the negotiations on a binding tariff solution.
The tariff structure has essentially been ready since spring 2025. Only the so-called monitoring concept was still open. This describes how the development of costs and services in the new tariff system is to be monitored. In order not to delay the process, the associations and tariff partners have agreed to submit the documents already negotiated now and to submit the monitoring concept in the third quarter of 2025.
What happens next?
As soon as the FOPH has reviewed and approved the complete documentation, the Federal Council can officially approve the tariff structure. The time frame for this process is currently difficult to predict. Only then will it be possible to set the level of the tariff in a separate contract.
There are two possible ways to do this:
- A uniform collective agreement for the whole of Switzerland, which would also have to be approved by the Federal Council.
- Regional solutions in which the tariff agreements are approved by the respective cantonal governments.
The Psy associations are campaigning for the new tariff to be at least as high as the previous provisional tariff. Calculations even show that a higher tariff would be justified. If no agreement can be reached with the insurance companies, the cantons would have to set the final tariff level.
The psy associations are continuing to work hard to ensure that a binding tariff regulation is adopted quickly - so that all those involved finally have clarity and security with regard to their livelihood.
