About us

The Swiss Professional Association for Applied Psychology SBAP was founded in 1952 by Prof. Hans Biäsch. It is one of the oldest Swiss associations of psychologists with over 1,000 members. The association represents the professional interests of its members. It is committed to high quality in education and training as well as in the practice of psychological professions (including the awarding of specialist titles). It also promotes the recognition of applied psychology in politics and society as well as the professional knowledge of its members.

Organization

The SBAP represents the professional interests of its members and the interests of applied psychology in the legal form of an association. The organs of the SBAP include the general meeting, the board and the office.

The following persons may become full members:

Psychologists according to PsyG
Students (majoring in psychology at a recognized Swiss university (UAS) or Swiss university)
Honorary members

SBAP friend

Individuals who do not meet the requirements for full membership still have the possibility to be part of SBAP in the form of SBAP Friends. SBAP Friends support the SBAP and benefit from the services & offers without having obligations and voting rights.
The same possibilities exist for institutions that would like to benefit from the services & offers of the SBAP.

SBAP strengthens the profession of psychology and contributes to the strengthening of mental health, awareness as well as acceptance of psychology in our society.

Mission

The SBAP accompanies and supports psychologists throughout their careers. It represents the interests of its members in health, education and professional policy and supports science. It contributes to the maintenance as well as to the further development of a high quality and demand-oriented psychological health care.

participative - The SBAP promotes and maintains a direct exchange with and between its members as well as the collaboration with its cooperation partners.

Quality

Compliance with continuing education guidelines is an integral part of SBAP membership. SBAP reviews annual continuing education protocols (see Bylaws, Policies, and Fact Sheets).

The SBAP keeps specialist psychologists SBAP in a professional register. These SBAP specialist titles are a quality label, because the SBAP specialist psychologists are bound to professional conditions that are checked by the SBAP commissions.

All SBAP members agree to abide by the Professional Code of Conduct, which serves to guide behavior and build ethical consensus within SBAP.
