Body-Centered Psychotherapy IKP

IKP Institute for Body-Centered Psychotherapy
Kanzleistrasse 17
8004 Zurich.
Tel. 044 242 29 30

In its approach, body-centered psychotherapy IKP belongs to the main direction of humanistic psychology with the inclusion of depth-psychological, behavior-therapeutic and systemic elements.

This contemporary and holistic form of psychotherapy combines therapeutic talk with active and passive bodywork, whereby talking and body-centered work merge processually: The therapeutic conversation is transferred or "translated" into other ways of experiencing and expressing. The experiences made are then discussed with each other. Research shows that with the help of body interventions, lasting improvements in the quality of life of patients with various disorders are possible within a short period of time.

In body-centered psychotherapy ICP, verbal and non-verbal interventions are complemented by creative action (colored sketches, pictorial representations, sounds, etc.). All experiences made in the action space are subsequently brought back to the language, i.e. discussed together, so that they remain vivid and well remembered.

This approach offers the possibility to integrate psychological, physical and relational experience and to anchor what has become conscious also in the body memory. This special method is taught exclusively at the IKP.

The continuing education in Body-Centered Psychotherapy IKP is accredited according to the Psychology Profession Act (PsyG).
